Assignment 2: Nursing Theory Scholarly Paper (14 points) Theories are patterns that guide the thinking about, being, and doing of nursing. Theories provide structure to nursing practice and research. Theories guide nursing practice, stimulate creative thinking, facilitate communication, and at the same time clarify purposes. A metaparadigm is a global concept of a disciple that identifies the primary phenomena of interest to that discipline. In nursing, the dominate phenomena within the science of nursing revolves around the concepts of man. Select a middle range concept of the student’s choice. In the Health Professions Division (HPD) library, perform a library search on the selected concept. Place the selected concept name in the first search box and concept analysis in the second search box. Apply the search options but do not place the five-year limiter. Explain each of the four concepts that comprise the nursing metaparadigm. 3. Explain the importance of theory in nursing practice. a. Provide and discuss two examples from current practice. 4. Select and define the chosen middle range concept utilizing various sources. a. Define the criteria of the concept. b. Discuss the uses of the concept. c. Define the attributes of the concept. 5. Identify antecedents and consequences. 6. Theoretical perspectives of the concept (theories that use the concept) as it applies to evidenced-based practice. 7. Provide an example of the significance of the concept to nursing practice from the organizational setting. 8. The scholarly paper should be four to six (4- 6) pages excluding the title and reference pages. 9. Include level 1and 2 headings to organize the paper. 10. The paper should begin with an introductory paragraph that includes the purpose statement. 11. The paper should include a conclusion. 12. Write the paper in third person and a scholarly manner.
